Privacy Policy

Who we are
Voxa is a messenger app for iPhone and the web, operated by the Voxa team ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data we handle when you use the Voxa app, the web app at web.app.voxaapp.net and this website.
Questions about privacy: [email protected].
What we collect
Account data. Your email address, display name, password (stored only as a salted hash), profile photo, short bio and country. We use your email to send sign-in and password reset codes.
Content you send. Messages, photos, videos, voice messages, files, locations you choose to share, stories, stickers and GIFs you send, and group and broadcast membership. This content is stored on our servers so that it can be delivered to your recipients and shown on your other devices.
Device and session data. Device platform and name, app version, the push notification token for your device, and the list of devices where you are signed in. You can see this list and sign devices out in the app.
Activity data. Your last seen time and online status (unless you turn it off), call history and call status, and which stories you viewed.
Reports and blocks. When you report a user or content, we store the report and the content you reported so we can review it. Your block list is stored so that blocked users cannot contact you.
Technical logs. Our servers keep standard logs (such as IP address, request time and error details) for security and troubleshooting.
We do not run advertising, and we do not sell your data.
Device permissions
Voxa asks for access to your camera, microphone, photo library, and location only when you use the related function: taking a photo, recording a voice message, making a call, attaching media, or sharing a location. You can change these permissions at any time in your device settings. Location is sent only when you choose to share it in a chat.
How we use data
To create and secure your account, deliver messages and calls, show your profile to people you allow, send push notifications, show link previews, handle reports, prevent abuse, keep the service running and fix bugs. We do not use your messages for advertising.
Security
Traffic between the app and our servers uses HTTPS. Passwords are hashed. Access to our servers and database is restricted.
Voxa does not currently offer end-to-end encryption: messages are stored on our servers so they can sync between your devices. No online service is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Your choices and controls
In the app you can decide who can find you in search, who can start a chat with you, who sees your last seen and who sees your story. You can block users, sign devices out, and edit or remove your profile details. You can star messages and delete messages you sent.
Retention and account deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account in the app (this requires your password). Deleting your account disables it and removes it from other people's view.
To have your personal data fully erased from our servers, email [email protected] from your account email address and we will complete the erasure within 30 days. We may keep limited records where the law requires it or where needed to handle abuse, and technical backups are overwritten on their regular schedule.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, UK or California) you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, to object to or restrict some processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. Email us to exercise these rights and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
Voxa is not intended for anyone under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify you in the app or by email.
